Quality CD - I got this CD after I fell in love with Lake Michigan and discovered that it was they who had made Eyes . The CD is pretty good, though none of the songs compares to Lake Michigan , but there are a number that I am happy to have come up on the play list. I don t know who I would compare them to as I am not well versed in the category, but I d say it was worth the money and is good relaxing music.
one that will grow on you - wasn t really all that wild about this at first, but this album has definitely grown on me. i would really miss this from my collection if it were not there. definitely mood music though, a little more on the mellow side. all in all a very good album, but not everyone will love it. if i could, i would give it 3.5 stars. there are definitely a couple stand out tracks. i would like to see these guys rock out more to tell the truth because i think they have serious potential for music with more gusto or punch. their pretty songs are really pretty, and nice, but when they do rock, they do well, but then trail way to deep into a wall of sound kind of thing, but it just turns into too much noise with not enough definition. they shine when their sound is defined, but often trail off into oblivion. that being said, i still think it s a good album and sometimes just hits the spot. and if you re not thrilled at first give it another try when you have time to listen to the whole thing in the car at night.
Great CD - I m going to be perfectly honest, I bought this CD just because I liked the song from the Zune comercials so much. And while not many of the songs are like Lake Michigan I love this CD. I can t understand half of what they say, but the CD is great. Whenever I litsen to it I think of faraway places and fairy tales. Asleep at Heaven s Gate never fails to bring a smile to my face.
Apothecary Delaindrum (Best Rogue Wave album yet) - I heard Chicago X 12 on an NPR music show and that was it. I stopped dead in my tracks and hit record on my cd recorder. Who is this? I wondered. Went out and bought the cd the next day. It s a great record. To my mind, this does not disappoint at all. I don t find a dull moment on this recording and I certainly do not think it is too long. It is recorded and produced excellently and sounds like a band that is on a creative roll and is really enjoying it. Yeah, I love it. I checked out their website and found a recording (video and audio) of an unplugged show they did for KCRW. They did a few songs from this album and some interesting covers. (the Split Enz songI Got You was amazing.) I think the last song was a Morrissey cover but I m not sure. The style on the show was soft and acoustic and quite nice. (I wish they would release an album of stuff like this) Zach has a fine voice and the rest of the guys in the band seem very happy to be there. It s a great combination and hopefully there will be more coming from these fellows. I liked this album much better than the first two. It is also a delectable album with headphones. Lots of detail and nuance that really comes through with phones.
R.M. Self, loves the pipe - It s a good album. Don t overlook it. It might not be as solid as their previous two, but it is still worth picking up. It s definitely not the biggest let down of 2007, it is to R.M. because he probably is 10 years old and owns like a 6 cd s, his mom bought for him.
